Lutheran Schools Hold Spring Educational Day

Under the patronage of Bishop Dr. Sani Ibrahim Azar, the Evangelical Lutheran Schools held the annual Spring Educational Day today. This event, organized by the ELCJHL Education Office and hosted by ELS Beit Sahour brought together students from ELS, Dar Al-Kalima Lutheran School, and Talitha Kumi. The Evangelical Lutheran School of Hope in Ramallah was unable to join this year due to travel restrictions, but they held parallel activities at their school today.
During the Spring Educational Day, students competed and earned prizes in subjects including sports, Arabic composition, math, geography, history, technology, chemistry, biology, social studies, mini presentations, problem solving, and the spelling bee. The annual logo drawing competition was held, and the winner became the logo for this year’s event. Prizes were also given for the best teaching methods in math, social studies and science.
The opening and closing ceremonies included music and Dabke performances from the three schools as well as speeches by ELCJHL Director of Education Eva Azar, Principal Salim Jaber of ELS Beit Sahour, and Head of General Education Department at the Palestinian Education Office in Bethlehem Dr. Muhammad Asakreh, followed by a blessing by Pastor Ashraf Tannous. Also in attendance was Beit Sahour Mayor Dr. Elias Iseed and other distinguished guests from the ELCJHL and Lutheran Schools.
We are so proud of everything our teachers and students have accomplished during this academic year. Despite the incredibly difficult situation here in Palestine, we see education as a path to a better future and we continue to prioritize the work of the Lutheran schools in our community.
