Gender Justice Jerusalem Activities

Throughout the last year, the ELCJHL's Gender Justice Ministry has organized a series of psychosocial relief activities for women in each of our six congregations. This series has been an important part of how the church seeks to care for our community's spiritual, mental, and emotional health during the current political situation. This week, a group from the Jerusalem congregation gathered for an afternoon of pottery at the Lutheran World Federation Vocational Training Center in Beit Hanina. The women were introduced to pottery by a trainer who demonstrated different techniques and skills used in pottery and ceramic making. Each woman painted a tile personalized with their name as part of the workshop. This traditional activity was a chance for women to express their feelings and de-stress through creativity. The activity also included an interactive lecture on the importance of self-care, which discussed strategies for taking care of oneself and dealing with daily stresses in a healthy and balanced way. We are thankful for all the connection and relief this series has brought to our congregants this year.
