The English-speaking congregation of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Amman was founded in 2024 to meet the growing demand for a Lutheran service in English from the large international community in Amman. The congregation meets for worship each Saturday at 10 am. It is a joy to provide a space for worship and community for this diverse community living in Amman and to share a space with our siblings of the Arabic-speaking congregation. Meet the Pastor of the English-Speaking Good Shepherd Congregation
Rev. Dr. Mark LaChonce
Originally from Michigan, Mark is a pastor with the Reformed Church in America, now happily serving the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He has served Jordanian Christian communities in a variety of capacities from 2004 to 2018. After six years in the United States, Mark completed his PhD studies at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and was invited to return to Jordan in 2024 in this role. We began the church community in December of 2024, and Mark also serves as site director of the Bethany Beyond the Jordan Baptismal site Lutheran ministry. We love accompanying and serving the Christian community of the Middle East. Mark and his wife Jennifer have three sons who are completing their studies in the United States and Europe.

Monthly Service Schedule
First weekend of the month - No Saturday gathering; bilingual worship with the Arabic congregation Sunday evenings (see Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd page for more details)
Second weekend - Worship with sermon and Lord's Supper, Saturday at 10 am.
Third weekend - Hymns and scripture readings with a shared meal, Saturday at 10 am.
Fourth (and fifth) weekend - Worship with sermon and Lord's Supper, Saturday at 10 am.
