January 22-30 of 2022 was Unity Week here in Jerusalem, where Christian churches from a multitude of different denominations came together to pray, each night hosted by a different church in Jerusalem, for the unity of our church, our nation, and our world.
Tuesday of this Week of Prayer was held at Redeemer, with a sermon from our English speaking congregation’s pastor, Reverend Carrie Ballenger. Bishop Azar and Reverend Gabi Aelabouni also represented the ELCJHL by leading prayers and the benediction in English and Arabic.
The ELCJHL places high value in our relationship with the other Christian communities here in Palestine and Jerusalem, as we make up a religious minority in this country. Our unity and harmony allows for collective movements of justice, peace, and community.
