BEIT JALA – The Deaf Ministry of the ELCJHL gathered together at Abraham’s Herberge to celebrate the Christmas story. The congregation sang songs, learned about the Christmas story, and got a surprise visit from Santa!
JERUSALEM – The Martin Luther Center holds a Friday gathering for children while they are off school, where they can create crafts and spend time in a safe environment. The center held a Christmas party for the children, complete with Santa and gifts.
JERUSALEM – The Arabic-Speaking Congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem held their annual Christmas Party and Bingo celebration before the holidays.
JERUSALEM – The Arabic-Speaking Congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer’s children lit the third Advent candle at the Chapel of the Ascension on the Mount of Olives. Following the service, the congregation held their annual Christmas bazaar.
BETHLEHEM – Every year, the women of the churches in the West Bank and Jerusalem joined together to celebrate Advent and Christmas together. This year, the event took place at Dar Annadwa (ICB) | دار الندوة الدولية in Bethlehem. The theme of the year was “Mary” – not just Mary, Mother of God, but all of the Mary’s present in the life of Jesus. General Secretary of the Lutheran World Federation, Martin Junge, joined the celebration and addressed the women. Thank you to all who turned out and who made this such a wonderful event!
BEIT JALA – The ladies from the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Reformation in Beit Jala are getting together to make pastries and baked goods to sell at their annual Christmas bazaar. On Monday, November 24th, a handful of women got together to make kubbeh, ground meat and onions inside a bulghur wheat pastry.
To purchase kubbeh, as well as shishbarak and other homegood food, embroidery and more, you can visit the Christmas bazaar from 3-8pm on December 4-6th at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Reformation in Beit Jala.
