Bishop Azar and the ELCJHL were honored to receive the solidarity visit of LWF’s General Secretary Rev. Dr. Anne Burghardt and her colleague Mrs. Caroline Tveoy. The General Secretary met with Bishop Azar, the ELCJHL church council and pastors, and the directors of our Diaconal, Gender Justice, and Environmental ministries, in addition to other local partners. The Environmental Education Center of the ELCJHL held the annual Spring Competition in April. Through this competition, the EEC offers students the opportunity to work with local professional artists and photographers to learn about nature art and photography. This competition was especially special this year, as many students have not had the chance to spend time outside in nature since October due to dangerous roads and closures throughout the country. The forum shared the work of the forum, as well as discussed future collaboration efforts to assist with the rebuilding efforts in Gaza once they are able to begin. This was a great way to keep the forum connected with local churches, and keep momentum for gathering and distributing aid to those in need in the Holy Land....

This year, only out of the four ELCJHL schools were able to participate in the annual "PAL MUN" (Palestinian Model United Nations) conference, held in Ramallah due to harsh restriction of movement. Our School of Hope Students in Ramallah represented the ELCJHL well though, and two of the eleven students present even won awards in the conference. This was a wonderful chance for students to learn public speaking, debate, and self-expression.
