SCHWERIN, NORTHERN GERMANY – Bishop Munib Younan joined with religious leaders from around the world to celebrate the installation of the first Bishop of the Nordkirche in Schwerin, North Germany at the Schwerin Cathedral. 750 guests from all walks of society took part in the ceremony that was also broadcast on television and on a video screen before the big, brick church.
“I am very happy that this occasion has helped solidify the relationship between the Lutheran World Federation and this new church body, as well as with my own church in the Holy Land,” said Bishop Younan.
The Nordkirche, or the Evangelical Northern Church, was established after the merger of state churches of Nordelbien, Mecklenburg and Pomerania.
