The first of Advent began in the church of Redeemer with the traditional Advent singing of the children and youth to the older people of the congregation on Saturday evening. About ten exited and joyful children went out to proclaim the beginning of the advent season. Supported by the playing of our pastor`s flute the children sang carols and were rewarded with the thankfulness of their audience and with sweets.
The joy of the children was also transferred in the service on the first Sunday in advent, when the children lit their candles from the altar and little Ludfi with the help of his father brought the light to the advent wreath. The service had a big surprise in a donation from the legacy of Bishop Haddad to our congregation. We were also happy to welcome Pastor Jonathan Heierman from our partner church in Detroit, Michigan (USA), who supported our prayers and celebrated with us the Eucharist.
In the evening many members of the congregation gathered in our church centre in Beit Hanina to sing and pray to our Lord and share the happiness of the new church season. We finished the day in a relaxed atmosphere with time for playing and talking for both, young and old.
