The
Advent season brought a new organization to Jerusalem today: Gospel Riders -
Jerusalem. Gospel Riders is a Christian organization of cyclers that was
formed in 1980 in Finland, and the new Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission
Representative, Roy Rissanen, began speaking to Bishop Younan from the ELCJHL
about forming a branch here.
In his opening speech, Bishop Younan celebrated the beginning of an group that was different in its outreach than mainstream church activities. He especially mentioned one motto on several of the leather jackets: "No saint without a past; no sinner without a future."
The chapter opened today as members from the Finnish branch came to be with the opening ceremonies. The group began with a ride toward Ramallah, through West Jerusalem and Eim Karem to a Stalagtite Cave in Bet Shemesh.
