The four k-12 schools administered by the Director of Education Office of the ELCJHL have a long history of service within the Palestinian community, dating back to the foundation of an orphanage and educational program for Arab girls in 1851. This was the first education program for the female youth of Palestine.
Today the four ELCJHL Schools continue to serve more than 2,000 students, employing more than 200 full and part-time educators.

It is the goal of the ELCJHL Director of Education for each of its ELCJHL Schools to "provide quality and innovation in teaching and learning [while] creating a healthy, motivating, stimulating and nurturing school environment."
But, because of high unemployment and underemployment rates in the impeded economy of the West Bank, essential education costs have outstripped the ability of many Palestinian families to afford tuition costs, let alone the full educational costs.
