Ecclesiastical Court Judges Hold Training with PJI

The Lutheran Ecclesiastical Courts judges have successfully completed a two-day training workshop on international human rights conventions, with a focus on strengthening the protection of women and children within court procedures and decisions.

The first day focused on women’s rights and related international conventions, while the second day addressed children’s rights and the principle of the child’s best interest. These sessions aimed to enhance judges’ legal knowledge and equip them with practical tools to handle family cases with a rights-based and gender-sensitive approach.
As part of this process, certificates were distributed to the judges who completed a series of specialized trainings held over the past few months. This training represents the first stage of a longer capacity-building process that will continue in the coming period. It also marks the first time that Ecclesiastical Court judges have participated in structured judicial trainings of this kind, making it an important and historic step toward strengthening the church’s justice system.

The training was organized by the ELCJHL Gender Justice Ministry مكتب العدالة بين الجنسين in collaboration with the المعهد القضائي الفلسطيني PJI and with the support of the Sawasya Programme Palestine برنامج سواسيةفلسطين, as part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of ecclesiastical courts and improve access to justice for our community.
